About Me

My photo
After spending my teenage years racing, i've changed discipline to freestyle as theres so much more to learn and a good way to always keep pushing myself forwards. I also work for club vass in the summer seasons, teaching anything from beginner to advanced.I then travel through the winter months to places such as Dahab and Brazil for some training! I always try and have a 12 month summer! However I always end up slightly skint so end up returning to the uk for a couple of months to earn for a while. Just before last christmas, I went to Dahab,Vassilki,Brazil, and Dahab again! So as i have just returned from Vassilki, where i was working there for 6 months, im now getting ready to head to Dahab to work for the winter months...Happy days!

SA Cape Town ! !

Cape Town, What a Place! Beautiful scenery, amazing property, and lets not forget the massive waves and strong winds! Including the famous table mountain to look at every morning.

It's my first time to Cape Town and Its everything people had mentioned to me and more, money well spent!

Where we live and where all the windsurfing/surfing happens Is only a 30 Minute drive from the Airport.

Whilst driving from the airport to table view where we live, we saw the townships which is mostly tin shacks where the poorer locals live. Once we got closer to the sea front the property is huge and I would say for the rich only!

Our house is sick! Big Thanks to Profitt for sorting it out! It has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms! 2 kitchens! bbq area, double electric Garage full of kit and surf boards, Garden, Big Pimping !!

Being a freestyler this is my first wave trip! I wasn't sure what to expect. There Is a Lake down the road which is good for keeping up the freestyle, so I would say a normal windy day here would be a freestyle session on the lake then to a wave spot sometimes before lunch with another wave session in the afternoon.

Some days we get no wind but there is normally a good swell so there is always surfing to be done.

I wasn't sure How I was going to get on with wave sailing but I love it a lot! Even though I would say I'm pretty much a Beginner having only ever been to Rhosneiger which is more jumping and swell, and one time at Gwithian. There is always a huge rush when turning on a wave knowing it might crush you and your kit.

One of the hardest things for me at first was finding a decent piece of swell on the way out to gybe on to ride back in, sounds easy, not when there's 30 knots of wind chop and other windsurfers everywhere to look out for.

Then came timing on the wave, when to turn, and how hard to turn. Ariel opportunities? Still not got this sorted yet think it probably take's years to get this right! Getting it wrong mostly ends in holding your breath and praying for your mast to come up still in one piece!

Any way enough rambling, this place is sick! If anyone is thinking of going in the future then do it! I've got a funny feeling I'll be back here next winter!
